Odd WLM prob.

Hi all, I have a problem which started with the Chrome browser, a few days ago it disappeared and when I clicked the icon it just flashed and the hour glass showed for a second then went.
I scanned with ADW Cleaner, Sophos and Malwarebytes, all showed ok, cleared out the cach etc uninstalled Chrome did a reg clean and re installed but no joy, I installed Google Canary which found my bookmarks but is more of an app, as web links did not open (part of the prob maybe) I read an article on line in which the writer thought that Chrome sometimes tries to start from 2 different .dll files, but in the end I had to uninstall the program and I am now using Epic which I use as a backup.
Now the big prob is my Windows Live Mail is doing the same and I am not sure if its a separate prob or connected, when I click the mail icon I get a message that WLM could not be started 0x80041161 I have downloaded WLM again but it still won't work.
I have booted from the windows7 Pro 64bit dvd and reloaded the drivers but WLM will still not fire up, and while my premier mail account is an @ Sky address, the only mail I can get is gmail, by clicking on apps which opens my gmail account, any help to return WLM will be most welcome, regards Robert.

Check services to see if windows live sign in assistant is started. If not, start it. The startup type for the service should be set to automatic.

Hi John, thanks for your help, although I might have fixed it along with a couple of other prob's I had.
My son had a similar prob with Google Chrome and put an exception in the Comodo firewall we both use, which worked for him and allowed Chrome to function, but by this time I had removed Google Chrome.
For further information I found and downloaded a "Microsoft Fix It For Me" file which I think reset the PC to a sort of last good configuration and brought back WLM, the "Fix It" file is better than the black and white screen boot menu, the one which re-loads the drivers and gives 4 or 5 choices with the choice of going back to a last good configuration which I tried, and it did not work.
I would however like to check your pointer of the sign in assistant, will this show in the Task Manager services tab? if so I can't find it, thanks again regards Robert.

Click on start, search, type services.msc and hit enter. You'll see the services window come up. Find windows live sign in assistant and see what the startup type is.

Hi Johnb35
Thanks for your help, I found the pro'g and it was set to Auto so I'm in a go situation again, sorry I can't find a solved button.
I am pleased that I found this site, it is very helpful & I'm sure that I can learn a lot, so as as Sergei & Aleksandr would say, I'll be back, regards Robert.
