a coworker's outlook express is closing every time he clicks on "new message". it says there is a fatal error and closes. there is no error code given though. can i insert the windows disk and do a "fix", if so will it delete the contacts/emails. i know how to back them up so no biggie there.

the system was reinstalled less than two months ago.

anyone have some ideas? sorry i cant give more info to help, but thats really all there is to it.

thanks

it does not matter if the system was installed even 2 days ago, Outlook express is not stable at all, I used to love it, but after so many crashes and un-resolved errors i switched to MS outlook.
Yes you can repair, the contact or should i say Address book wont be affected, if you're still not sure back it up, it's only a .wab file anyways

cheers mate

and oh : if you do continue running into errors with OE i advise you to upgrade

ya i prefer the MS outlook my self. he WAS using it also untill he tried saving emails with attachments to another folder and the default file type is .html (WTF!) so he lost all his attachments(big nono). so after that he swore off MS Outlook.

i'll try the repaire and see what happens.
