OEM vs Retail HD's

Is there anything that makes the retail HD easier to setup. Currently looking into parts for first build from scratch.

Yeah... OEM would just be the drive in anti-static wrap. Retail would be a drive packed in a box with some software(usally just copy software, and diagnostics) and then what SirKenin mentioned. Not worth it, honestly. Probably best to get OEM if your building from scratch as you should have cables from your motherboard, plenty of screws, and the software is crap... It's also downloadable from their sites.

Which drives give you software? I've never gotten any. I feel ripped off now. My life was a bowl of cherries up until now and you just ruined it.

seagate used to, but that was early XP days.... so now that harddrives are PNP i dont think they include the disk anymore

You can get the software for free from the manufacturers website anyway.

Retail costs alot more, but its deffinetly not worth it.

Well, now I buy all my equipment wholesale anyways, so it doesn't matter, but I have bought a couple of retail drives in a pinch... I got scammed
