OEM warranty

I think it depends on where you buy it (check with your supplier), but if memory doesn't fail me, it's something like 30-days for an OEM.
 
30 days?!?! That would certainly be a major rip off for the price difference. Unless you OC and lose the warranty anyway. According to TigerDirect's site, there is nowhere near that big of a difference in the length of warranty between OEM processors and retail processors. Some are the same, depends on the processor. The lowest I found on the site was 36 months for a retail CPU compared to 12 months for OEM.
 
yea my boxed/retail cpu AMD, i thitnk its 3 yrs manufactures, but with fry's its like 15 days
 
So what if it is dead on arrival? Then your just sorta screwed? Surely Newegg would help you out there.
 
Found this on Intel, there OEM processors have no warranty, So I guess if you buy a OEM Intel your left with working with the supplier if its DOA where AMD gives 1 year for OEMs

Intel sells processors via Retail and Wholesale channels. Retail processors are sold in clearly marked individual boxes and typically carry a 3-year warranty directly from Intel. Wholesale (a.k.a. tray or OEM) processors are not sold in retail boxes and are typically pre-installed by a system manufacturer (ex. HP*, Dell*, Gateway*) or reseller. Intel does not provide direct warranty support for wholesale processors.
