I'm about to buy a laptop and as is unfortunately the case in almost every place you might buy a computer these days, it'll be lumbered with having Vista on it. Naturally I don't want that slow/incompatible garbage on there so I'll want to install XP Home on it (because it runs all my software and quickly).
If I buy an "OEM XP Home" edition rather than a Full or Upgrade version, will I be able to install it on a machine that already has Vista ? I'm not sure if I'll do a dual boot or just wipe the drive completely.
The price of the OEM version is almost half the price of the Upgrade version (on Amazon UK anyway) and if the retailers were selling the computer with XP then this is what I would be buying from them.
Here's the link to what I've been looking at buying.
I'm concerned it might fail to install because of some bizarre situation I can't think of.
