Office 2002 on Vista??

I just bought a new computer and tried to install my copy of office. Everything is working fine except Outlook. I can't seem to get my email accounts to work correctly. Is there a way to do this? Or is there a freeware software that is similar to outlook? i like having my calendar and email in the same program, but don't want to waste money on Outlook. Thanks.

The password wasn't working on my gmail account, but my school account couldn't send either.

I downloaded Thunderbird and it works great. It even has the calendar which was the other feature of Outlook I loved. So now I have a working program for both my email and calendar.

I've been a Firefox user for a while, but I didn't really think about switching other stuff too.

I have one more question about Thunderbird now. I have two emails (gmail and school) linked and while they're both working... my school email seems to be delayed. I sent test emails and the one to my school account didn't post until almost an hour after it was sent, even though I manually clicked "get mail" and checked the schools web email server where it had arrived. Is there something in the settings that I might have wrong?

I really appreciate all the help I've been getting on this forum and I promise, I'm not normally this clueless about computers.

edit: Now it's working (I think). I just paid for my spring parking permit and got the payment received email within two minutes of clicking submit payment. Just incase though, what should I check in the settings to make sure I get the emails faster?

You do realize that Windows Vista has Windows Mail built right in with all the features of Outlook, and even junk mail filters right? You didn't really have to put that POS Thunderbird on there.
