Office 2010 e-mail send/receive error message

Greetings all,

I received a phone call from my brother 800 miles away indicating that he was having problems sending and receiving mail using office 2010. He is running Windows 7 and the aforementioned with plenty of hard drive space, RAM, high-speed broadband.

I accessed his computer using a program, and found that at the bottom of his display window interface while in office 2010, indicates error in sending or receiving (or similar). Now, the funny thing is that he can send mail and receive it on his his iPhone (using same account) . His computer does have full Internet access to everything via the web. He has sent an e-mail to me and if I recall correctly, I have received it. Further, there is no unsent e-mails in his out box out of his office 2010 and program.

I know very little about Windows 7 as I do not use it myself and, I do not know how to get to the page that shows "pop three or IMAP" info, etc.

When attempting to hit send/receive an office 2010. There is a message box that appears dead center of the screen that indicates "6 out of 7 tasks completed" (or similar) which no matter what you do will always say that. It also indicates the CORRECTED error message as " 0X800300FD " .

He hasn't used his computer in over three weeks and came back to this. I did some research referencing this problem and I came up with really nothing conclusive as what the issue could be an even came up with
'so-called solutions" that indicate for him to create another profile (which isn't going to happen).

He has also indicated to me that that past few times he has initialized his program, that he has had to re-enter the last 4 digits of his password. I just sent him an e-mail to completely wipe out his password and re-enter same and if that doesn't have any effect, to change it all together. ANY help would be appreciated!

Why won't you do this? This is the easiest possible solution. There's probably a configuration issue with the incoming server settings.

Before creating a new profile you can try this.

Click File>Account Settings>Account Settings. In the email tab, select his email address if not already selected, and click Repair. Follow the prompts and if it encounters any issues, enter the correct server values.

If it still has issues, try creating a new Outlook profile.

Open Control Panel and click Mail. Click Show Profiles, click Add, give the new profile a name, and follow the email setup wizard.

WELL, THAT IS WHAT IT SAYS. NOPE! - CORRECTED ERROR CODE IS 0X800300FD

Why won't you do this?
BECAUSE IT IS OR WILL NOT BE ME DOING THIS. HE IS A DISABLED VET RELATIVE WHOM IS NOT COMPUTER SAVVY AND IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG, HE'LL BE LEFT SWINGING.

THAT IS WHY (IN PART) THAT I AT LEAST WANTED TO CHECK THE "POP/IMAP, ETC" SETTINGS IN HIS E-MAIL BEFORE I PROCEED BUT, CANNOT LOCATE SAME.

OK

Click File>Account Settings>Account Settings. In the email tab, select his email address if not already selected, and click Repair. Follow the prompts and if it encounters any issues, enter the correct server values.
THANKS - WILL GET THIS INFO OVER TO HIM ASAP!

If it still has issues, try creating a new Outlook profile.
LIKE I SAID, DON'T THINK THIS WILL HAPPEN. I AM NOT SURE IF HE DID THIS A LONG TIME AGO IN THE PAST.

Open Control Panel and click Mail. Click Show Profiles, click Add, give the new profile a name, and follow the email setup wizard.

Thanks for the reply! I will entertain any additional relevant suggestions also. Will get back to you on this when done.

Nothing will happen to the old profile. It will still be there. And it's not like you can't do a remote TeamViewer session or whatever and do it yourself.

My error in posting the correct code on office 2010 (outlook e-mail).....This is what i get for using text to speech software...So sorry guys!

UPDATE(S),
Well, I reviewed picts of the screens I took picts of when I set his computer up a few years ago and everything was the same (settings). However, that doesn't mean something didn't get corrupted.

I asked him to change his password for the heck of it but, as expected, made no difference. The was a section about "repair" which i clicked on it it said that it was completed.

There was also a section where it had a "test account button" of sorts and I pressed that, which if I am correct, sent a message out but, was only received on his cell phone and did not get picked up my his computer.

We did the test account thing twice and the second time we shut down his phone to be sure that the message was not getting "intercepted" by his cell instead of getting picked up by his computer. I purchased for him a few years ago, an external hard drive which I instructed him to image his entire computer on it in regular intervals so, we are thinking that route.

We attempted to go into "restore" but, was surprised to see that his restore was shut OFF! This happened to me many years ago for some u/k reason with WIN XP PRO. So, that route was killed.

So, how do I re-enable "RESTORE" in his computer?
He made a computer back up (image) to the ext HD the other day before I started screwing around with his computer. I did delete temp files (only after saving a copy to a folder) as I have read on the net but, no changed results. As far as his "back ups", he may try that today to an earlier one in an attempt to see what happens if anything. I did notice that he has 2 "in" boxes that in the one he has over 11,000 e-mails just in his in box!
