Oh dear... There seems to be a problem.

I should start by pointing out that I am currently waiting for a different video card to make it to me from Newegg, and that MIGHT solve my problem.

Anyway, I'm currently borrowing a PNY Geforce 9800 GT 1GB from a friend. It worked swell at first, but now it seems to be having issues. Whenever I try to run my monitor (Samsung Syncmaster 2033) on it's maximum/recommended setting of 1600x900, I have a problem with anything that wants to be full screen. For instance, I will try to make Chrome go to full screen, and the monitor will go black. I have to alt-tab and then un-maximize the offending window. Fortunately, I was able to alleviate this problem without significantly hurting my desktop resolution by running the monitor in 1440x900 instead. I no longer have the problem of not being able to maximize windows.

However, I was playing the demo for Bulletstorm, and, without fail, the game would black out for several seconds at a time, and then play just fine for a minute or two. The exact same problem as when I tried to maximize a window.

However, the same thing does NOT happen when playing Battlefield Bad Company 2. It runs perfectly fine. No screen blanking out, no flickering, no nothing. Now, again, I'm expecting a new card as early as tomorrow. That may or may not provide me with a fix. Assuming it doesn't, what could I do to fix this problem? I thought it might be the on-board video chipset's drivers interfering with the card's, but I just don't know.
 
That is an odd problem. Have you disabled the onboard GPU? I am not too sure what problems that it may cause if it is enabled but since it is an ATI onboard and an nvidia GPU that might be giving you the trouble.
 
Try removing your GPU and just using the onboard GPU if the problem persists there might be a problem with your software not hardware,which can be fixed.
And if the problem is solved then try removing your GPU drivers and doing a fresh install of the drivers.
Also another thing you can try is running any Linux Distro and see if a similar problem is encountered in the GNU/Linux OS.

I think it is a software problem only since it does not happen with BFBC2,which also is a pretty intensive game.
 
Did you, in fact, install the correct drivers when you put the card in? Try checking for a driver update on the PNY website
 
I realized that when I uninstalled the drivers before, I never restarted my computer. That appears to have been the problem. Although, I got my good card today, and it works like a charm. Thanks for the advice guys :D

Nice,you got a new card.

But what about the older one,was it fixed??
