Bad call on the DVDROM ...
1. Make sure you have that latest driver (same link i gave above)
2. How are you burning the cds? (what application or something like IMAPI)?

1. The drive could have toasted itself, happens all the time on low/medium quality drives
2. Try updating the IMAPI? (if you have SP1a or better than you have the update im pretty sure).
3. Visit (IMAPI) http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;320174 (General) http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;324129 for some ideas
4. Latest version of nero?

Nero doesn't pick up my DVD Combo drive, so when I burn cd's I have to use the normal windows burning wizard

Nero supported DVD burning for a long time so i suspect that shouldnt be a problem :)

When you did your system restore, might you have restored to a point where the NERO that you have installed isn't the version that allows burning. Do a NERO reinstall and see if that solves your problems.
