I have been thinking of building my own computer for awhile now and soon I might finally have enough money to do so. (Im still in school so making this much money is kind of hard) So I did some research online and here are my (current) hardware choices. I was hoping you guys could look at the stuff i picked out and tell me if its all compatible (Im almost 100% positive it is but having some second opinions couldnt hurt, especially since its my first build.) The other thing I was hoping you guys could help me with was when you looked at my hardware choices if you could make any suggestions on what you think would be a better decision, some reasons why you think this would be nice too. But this looks like a pretty good community so I doubt Im going to get responses like "OMG wat r u doing" Thanks for all the help
, oh and just a quick side note Im planning to use this computer for gaming and regular everyday use if that helps.
CPU- Link
Motherboard- Link(780i) or Link(790i) This I really need some advice on. Which one would you pick? Or suggest something else entirely.
Video card- Link
Ram- Link
Case- Xaser or ThermalTake Another big decision, I like how both look but Im going for practicality first and looks second.
Hardrive- Suggestions would be nice.
Power Supply- OCZ or OCZ(2) Whats the difference between the two? And are they powerful enough to run everything?
I already have a good monitor so you guys dont need to suggest anything for that. One of the biggest questions I have is when I was looking for CPUs I was wondering if processor X was rated 2.5GHz and was duel core and if processor Y was 2Ghz and was Quad core which is faster? Do you multiply the speed by the number of cores or do more cores just mean that the CPU can multitask better? My next major question is where should I buy all this stuff from? At this point Im stuck between TigerDirect or NewEgg. Both seem good and both are highly recommended it seems. Suggestions? Currently thats all i can think off. But I have more questions
I just need to remember them...
All opinions/tips are appreciated!
