Ok, i really need help

Im trying to OC. Here is the begining of my many questions.

Why is it, that when I select 400 Mhz for my Memclock Index Value in my BIOS, it shows up as 200 Mhz in CPUZ. And when I select 200Mhz in the BIOS, it's 100 Mhz in CPUZ.

Also, if the following is true:

CPU speed = FSB*Mutl
Divider = FSB/Dram*Mult
MemClock = CPU/Divider

Then how the hell am I supposed to know what to set my Mem at when it's part of the equation that tells me what to set my mem at?

One more thing, if I have to adjust my HTT Mult to get my HTT freq as close to 1k, I'm obviously not going to always hit it dead on. Am I better off a little above 1k or below?

Thanks in adavance, I've read every freaking website out there and it still doesn't make sence. (and i've read the sticky's)

because DDR400 runs at 200mhz but is double data...so really it runs at 200....maybe bobo will pop in and explain it like he always does.Either way,its normal.

i thought that might be why, but it threw my for a loop cause it lists it in "Mhz". Would a better way of wording it be....."The Mem is 200Mhz at DD so the MOBO sees it as 400Mhz"?

CPU speed = FSB*Mutl
Divider = FSB/Dram*Mult
MemClock = CPU/Divider

Actually a little off:
Cpu = core speed*multi
FSB or HT = core speed*multi
Memoryclock = core speed*fraction, or otherwise known as a divider.

ok, that makes sence.

So, really what I'm trying to do is: (btw, i can't increase my CPU mult, only decrease)

Increase my CPU speed by increasing the core speed. This in turn increases the FSB/HT which has to be brought back down by lowering the HT Mult from 5 to whatever to reach 1k. But raising the core also raises the Mem speed, this is where I get lost. I need to lower the Mem speed to close to 200mhz or 400 mhz? What fraction?

You should just be able to pick the next lower speed setting in the BIOS, I believe..
