Ok looking at pentium

no way im sticking with Pentium, im sorry ill upgrade later this is suppose to be a cheapo build that can handle garrys mod
 
dude you are probably going to have enough money to get a core 2 duo of course what are you planing to use the comp
 
ummm... garrys mod.... if thats what your asking also i will need all the small things like fans and speakers screen mouse thermal paste so thats why im trying to make as cheap as possible but still able to run garrys mod
 
The new Pentiums are based on Core2Duo CPUs with some of their cache disabled. Other than the cache, Pentium 5-series and the new 8-series CPUs are pretty much identical (they have some features like Virtualization disabled as well, but makes no difference for an average user).

Are you actually planning on building a new computer, or just upgrading the CPU in the one in your rig? Your current rig probably doesn't even take LGA775 CPUs, so if you're going to get a new computer altogether, just let some of the pros around here to do a build for you. What are your needs/what programs/games are you planning on running (other than Garry's mod, we already know that :P). Do you need just the box, or something else (mouse, monitor, keyboard, anything?).
 
First of all, don't listen to Mustardsky as he is a kid who probably can't even tie his own shoes. Second, the E5200 is a great CPU and would be just fine for you.
