A Simple Question....i Need Help...
What Is Better Nvidia Or Ati Or Geforce...all Of Them Keep Saying That They Are The Best...im Confused?????if You Guys Can Tell Me Honestly Which One Is Better I Will Be The Happiest Gamer!!

games machine ATI every time, workstation/server nvidia, thats what i use anyway and for those specific purposes (ATI 850xt being bought next week :D ).

If life where like that you wouldn't need a visa ;-).. LOL J/K.. but boy would it not be nice if it where really that simple? sadly though it's not.

pc club guy if someone told you one or the other simply by name they would be missleading you. you have to firstly decide what games it is that you want to be able to play and decide if how important it is to you to use antialiasing and such things and very importantly what your budget is...

I find it very hard to accept comments such as the one that john1979 made when it was way cheaper for me to purchase an Nvidia 6800gt over the ATi x800pro and yet ask anyone the 6800gt beats the ATi X800pro. I play everything at full settings using Antialiasing 4x and atiostropic filtering 4x (doom3, half life2, far cry, etc)

Both ATi and Nvidia make Excellent cards.

So does this mean that the 9600 is a better choice than the 6800? Or that TNT2 is a worse card than FireGL? Please, let's try to avoid the fanboy comments.

you really half to say a geforce model and a radeon model then we can tell you which one of those 2 cards are better. Even a price range with purpose would help us determine what card would be best.

If it was a choice between those 2 cards it would have to be the 6800. why? because the tecnology has moved on.

IMHO ati make better gaming cards, but that is only an opinion :P .

Clever response ;) How about radeon9200se vs 5950U? They're a part of the same generation.... as you can no doubt see (also as mgoldb2 as noted), you cant just compare entire products but rather restrict it to within appropriate bounds

2 DiamondMax Plus9 120GB (raid 0+1)
Oh hey John ... about your sig .. you forgot two harddrives considering RAID 0+1 requires 4 drives.....http://www.acnc.com/04_01_0_1.html

Unless its using matrix RAID (though I don't think you'd call it 0+1 in that case), but thats only supported by the 910,915, and 925 chipsets.

as said before this isn't true for all games only specific cases.

no you wouldn't call it raid 0+1, it's called a 'Matrix RAID,' Intel spared no expense on the naming :)

With newer games it ALL depends on the game. HL2 and Doom3 will perform differently on the same card, bcuz they were optomized and built on entirely different cards. older games don't really have this problem, it just is prefrence as far as they go i think.

What you need to consider is budget, when you have that figured out scope out 1-2 cards in THAT range for BOTH ATi and nVidia. THEN go online and see out of those 2-4 cards which proved to be the best OVERALL. don't look at one game benchmark, those are misleading. find the best overall card and go with that one. opinions don't matter, you want hard facts.

Come back with 2-4 cards in your price range from ATi and nVidia, and ask which would be best overall. it's alot easier to debate over 2-4cards than it is over then ENTIRE line from ATi or nVidia lmao.

ok here is what i want in a g card

i currently have a HP zv5000 notebook (XP P4-2.8GHz 512mb DDR SDRAM memory 40 gigs. and a 15.0'' XGA TFT display....procesor(ATi mobility Radeon 9000 igp) i want to upgrade my laptop to its FULLEST capabilities (bang for buck kept in mind) i play all the games Need For Speed..HALO...Flight Simulators..etc..What can i put in my laptop that would help me get better resoulution and allow me to play with optimal performance? i have thought about adding more memory (1 gig is what i want) but could i also put in another processor?

ok so if everyone is talking about budget...tell me what Graphics card you have and what game you play most often and how the game performs in optimal conditions....just so i get an idea of what i can purchase..also the price you paid would be nice:) remeber i have a laptop ...look up the list for my pc info...Thanks Alot Computer Wizards..Computer Rule!!! we love them dont we!!lol

oooo...laptop. that might be a problem, as alot of laptops simply will not work with certain gfx cards. you have to make sure it fits and that the mobo can take that big of a card. for example my Dell laptop can't use anything cept a GeforceGo 2 card...nothing else will fit. call up the manufacturer and ask them the BEST vid card you can use in your model...then see online what it runs at. My guess is it's probably a 9700 if it's new enough.

Manufacturer site will tell you max CPU you can use, and Max RAM capacity. i think most laptops top out at 512MB, but some will use 512MB per bank so you can get 2-512MB in there. with laptops it's not really up to you and what you wnt unfortunately...if it doesn't fit you cant use it, and if it's too new it won't be compatible. no BIOS updates i've seen allow for a big upgrade overhead.

hope you get good news from manufacturer.

most laptop cpu's are soldered onto the mobo im pretty sure.. just an fyi

i dunno about that, maybe REALLY old ones. But every laptop i've ever worked on has had CPU just like a desktop. How else would you upgrade it?

damn i cant put a new g card..or get a new processor..all i can do is get more memory up to (1024MB, 333MHz, 200-pin, PC2700 Small Outline Dual In-Line Memory Module (SODIMM). AND 256MB, 333MHz, 200-pin, PC2700 Small Outline Dual In-Line Memory Module (SODIMM)..i guess m stuck with ATi lol.
