I pulled the heatsink out of an old computer today. removed the fan, and scrubbed it clean under the faucet. It's the arctic cooler freezer 7 pro. Was it ok if I did this? It's drying at the moment. I cleaned the contact part of the heatsink with 70% alcohol. It was just too dirty to use a can of air, it wouldn't get the thick layers of dust off.

Yup, i did the same thing with my xigmatek all the time. Just make sure to clean the base of it again with alcohol as tap water has alot of contaminants in it.

ugh... rubbing alcohol? but i guess water will work? you tried alcohol i see but idk, just wet a paper towel or microfiber and swoosh it across. DONT SCRATCH IT! lol use filtered water >.< im a neat freak :D
