Which do you guys think?

Btw, is there some way to check the amount of power my power supply is using? I'd like to know. I have a 400 watt one but yeah, i have like 1 connector free and it's just a splitter from a fan or HDD or something. I just want to make sure that before I buy anything with a fan I have enough power to push it.

If you guys have any other links I might want to check out let me know. I would definitely like to check it out.

Doesnt matter; both cards are "standard 6800GTs".

Got a wattmeter? If not, just make an educated guess

a wattmeter? wha?
You'll find it at an electrical store... of course a multimeter and a calculator can do the trick too

I know they are both GT's but which one would you get? I'm thinking the one with 2 fans.
Thats just asethetics.

Why would it help? Why wouldnt it help? It's not like that extra fan is going to result in a difference of 40ºC of something. Like i said, it's just aesthetics :)

I dunno; when i buy cooling stuff i have very specific requirements in mind -- anything that's 40db or louder as a minimum .. you gotta decide what your requirements are before you can start deciding on a cooler.

What? :P

I was talking about cheaper video card man.

Oh well... in that case... shop around -- just like everyone else... i can tell you my prices but that doesnt do you any good now does it?

Well unless you're looking to get a MSI, an ASUS or Abit then thats a different game; if you're looking at BFG, Albatron, XFX, eVGA, etc; those are relatively "new players" and havnt been around long enough to develop a significant repitoire :) Like i said before, it's pretty much aesthetics and pricing.

out of those 2 i'd get the eVGA one. the extra fan is just welll..for looks? 1 fan and a solid cooler is all it takes unless u voltmod or something crazy like that.

Yeah typically when you have multiuple fans, the fans will be smaller and the net fan-power is less than a single large fan ... which is compensated for by a more effective heatsink.... so i guess it's not much of a difference as far as cooling goes (unless you get a more broken-in brand like ASUS or MSI etc which have multi-generation-proven designs).

whats sposed to happen is one fan is intake and one fan is outtake. but i dont like this design cuz the air is sucked in, then IMMEDIATELY pulled out b4 it actually cools anything lol. one fan applied directly on the heatsink should perform better than 2 fans just pushing air around the HS.

Which card are you talking about? All the multifan setups ive seen are like normal single-fan setups (i.e., blow-down), just smaller

what i've seen is one 40mm fan sucks air in..while the other one sucks air out. they wanted to make it like a compouter case. but thatdoesnt really work cuz thats just too little air for a hot card. and if you had them both blowing down..where would the air go? through cracks in the enclosure maybe..i dunno. i just like openness...

Out the side/top/bottom like what you'd have with a normal one-fan setup. I dunno you might be right about the in-out but that does seem kinda dum because then you'd have half the heatsink being hot and the other half being decently cool :D

the card he posted, the fans are encased in plastic...so it traps all the air ofr "efficient cooling". really all it does i stop the hot air from going anywhere heating it up more. i was talking about a card with a plastic cover on it like his.

With respect to the Gainward, I'm not sure, but if you look at the topdown view of the heatsink you'll see that its not sealed ... if it's sealed then i dunno :P
