Old Dell. Ideas?

Hey CF users...

I have this 10 year old Dell Dimension 8300 that I have no idea what to do with. I am planning on building a new computer this summer and I'm taking the optical drives from it but other than that, what can I do with a pile of junk?

I have a PNY 8400 GS in it.. A slight boost over the stock graphics... Knowing it's a Dell I can't overclock it.. Ideas from the community?

It's pretty useless. You could always throw a lightweight Linux distro on it and keep it up and running as a spare PC if you wanted. But I say chuck it.

Wipe the HDD and donate it to Goodwill (or similar). Leave the optical drive in there and just get a new one for your new system - will be faster anyway.

Great ideas.. Putting Linux on it and keeping it as a backup internet surfer sounds like a decent idea.. Since Microsoft is ending support for XP it'll be one way to keep it going I guess :p

Even if you wanted to reuse the optical drive the interface will be obsolete on a new system.

One of the drives is fairly new.. I'm pretty sure it'll work but I'll have to make a thread in the DVD/CD area..

Case closed (I wanna feel like an admin hehe)
