Old HD New MB

What do you mean by old? Is it IDE or SATA. Does it have any data on it? If it has an existing copy of windows on it, you won't be able to boot to it.

If you have the appropriate interface then you can 'use' it. If it's going to be an OS drive then you'd have to reinstall windows as above :P

It is a SATA. It has data on it. It has an existing copy of Windows on it. Thank you for your answer.

You can use an old hard drive on a new motherboard as long as it uses the same interface (SATA), however since you had Windows on it you should format it. You most likely won't be able to boot off of it without reinstalling Windows.

I want to use it for Windows...I would have to reinstall Windows beers and Geoff say. This costs about $100. This is the rapidly escalating costs of buying a new computer part.

You can re-use the license key that you have now, no need to re-purchase it.

Is the system still up and running? If so, you can use a program such as magicjellybean keyfinder to pull the key from the registry.
