i just got this laptop from a friend, and old ibm tinkpad to fart around with, i'm not even sure any of the spec's on it accept that it's win 98. my problem (other than the obvious fact that i have so much time and so little life i'm even bothering with it) is that it's locked/passworded, it won't even startup without a password, i can't even get into the bios, and it won't even read a disc to format it before the password. does anyone know of any way to get around it.
i even took it apart to see if i cuold set the hard drive as a slave on my tower to format it then put it back together and install windows, but the pins on it are closer together than on a regular hard drive, so the ribbon wouldn't plug into it. now i know if i shop around, on ebay probably, i could find a ribbon to work, but i was looking for a simpler faster solution than that. anyone know of anything at all to help me with this?
