Old-ish gaming computer upgrade?

Current specs:

Asus P5e motherboard
Geforce 8800GTS 512
Intel Q6600 Processor
2x2gb DDr2 PC6400 Ram

These are pretty basic specs but as you can see this computer was created around the "Crysis boom" when the 8800GTX was top shelf.

However, I've been out of the computer game for a while, and I made this computer to be upgradable. It has 2x SLI slots and an SLI PSU, but as you may know, its almost impossible to find another 8800GTS in a proper price ratio with current way-faster cards.

I have 2 ram slots open, but I use the old DDR2 standard and once again I see current-age tech like 4GB DDR3 ram sticks that can go cheaper than a 2GB slower ddr2 version that I may need.

So here is my question...

Is my processor and ram good enough to get my money's worth if I were to get a 560 TI or 7850? Or should I just wait it out and build a new computer next black friday/christmas?

I dont think anyone will doubt me on this, but this current rig can play any PS3 or 360 game better and the technological advancements seem to go in stride with console generations. As in, this current computer setup can play any game on at least medium-high (excluding metro 2033 I guess idk). So this is even less of an initiative to upgrade and just wait it out. To say the least I think I have another year or two before I can't play a game because the frame rate is too low on any setting.

However, you guys are the experts, tell me what you think the future holds in store with new generation games and consoles coming up... Maybe tell me what you would do in my shoes with the current setup I own.

A Q6600 should run fine with a 560 Ti or a 7850 even though it's a 5 year old or so processor. Upgrading the RAM is going to be expensive though, I'd get 8GB if you can and whilst the prices aren't too high.

What power supply have you got?

You need a new PSU. The recommended tip is to replace a PSU every 5 years, so it doesn't blow. Unless you bought the PSU after it was built. What's your budget? Get another 2x2 GB DDR2 set, a q6600 as spirit recommended, and a GTX 560Ti.

Rosewill 650w SLI Crossfire

Eh it's not too bad but not the best quality, and quality is important with power supplies.

I'd get a Corsair CX 600, a 7850, and maybe another 4GB of RAM if you can to make 8GB. That should be enough then. Might want to consider getting an aftermarket cooler and overclocking your Q6600 too if you haven't already.
