Old Laptop

Hello Everyone. I'm new on this forum, and i decided to make a new thread and my question is:
What can I do with old laptop,
I have Dell Latitude CPx

and I not use it at all.
I have one big problem - the motherboard is not working at all i need to buy new. (The reason i do not use laptop)
- The capacity is 12GB HDD and 256 RAM memory. I know it's too low.
- The battery is not charging.
This problems are making me sick, but i still love this laptop because it was my first laptop. What can i do with it.I would repair something like new motherboard new external HDD and RAM.
I appreciate your suggestions.

It's too old and you probably won't be able to find the motherboard for it anymore.

I found some the cheapest is 125 Euros, but I'm not sure is that smartest I can do.

You have to get the exact same motherboard or it won't work.

Yes I found 3 or 4 of them in my region do you think that I would buy one and try it?
And what then, I would like to make something useful from the laptop.

search it up on Ebay with the exact model number.

As for what you can do with it, depends on what you need. It will probably run XP, but more sluggishly than a beached destroyer.

You could load crunchbang, or another minimalist distro on it. Should do that just fine, and be acceptable in performance.
