Old laptops available?

I'd love to post this in the buy/sell/trade section, but rules are rules, and I do not have the necessary post count.

I'm in need of a laptop for school in the spring. My budget is tight and I just need something. If I cannot find a decent used computer for cheap, I'm gonna go the Dell route.

So does anybody have an old laptop with ok amounts of power? Like for example, 512 RAM, 1.5 ghz processor, and 60 gig HD? A bonus would be to have Windows XP w/ Word, powerpoint, etc... on it.
 
I'm sure eBay will have exactly what your looking for, but if you decide to go the Dell route, you won't be disappointed, they make great notebooks.
 
So what is your budget? Do you really want an old laptop? Laptop's are not made to last like Desktops, so getting an old one might not be that great of an idea.
 
a agree, a dell would fit your needs quite well..
i've had good luck with mine, i've had 2 the only reason i got a new one was because my dad needed one so i sold my old one to him
 
Old Dells :)

I got my Dell of ebay 18 months ago.

The spec is abit higher than you requested.
It can with XP, the full office suite, and a load of other software.
Its a latitude cpt and works great.
I haven't had any problems with it since i got it (touch wood)
It cost my dad around 200quid with postage.

I'd say buy on ebay everytime. An ebay shop if ya can :)
 
My budget (non-ebay) is up to 900 financed.
My Budget (ebay stylez) is at most 500 used.

I'm stuck between points. I want either a nice looking low end laptop, IE Insperon series,V3000Z series, etc.... or a laptop with perfect specs (for me) such as customized V3000Z with 2.0 Turion 64, 256 video, 1gig memory, 80 gb 7200RPM HD, and the such.

Whatever I get, it will Turion 64 based, or atleast AMD based. I've never had an issue with any AMD product, and I prefer to stay with them for it :)

Also, is Compaq V3000 series something to stay away from?
 
i've had bad luck with compaqs but unfortunately if you want an amd based laptop i think you might be stuck with acer, i don't know of any others ther have amd processors in them and i'm not sure how well built acers are, you'd have to ask someone else
 
we had some acer desktops at school a few years back the the IT guy did nothing but complain about but he's really not much of a hardware guy, he likes to sit behind his desk over in the other building and never go onsite to work on stuff. Acer would probably be fine, from what i saw they were well built.
 
i dun know if u ar still lookin for a laptop....but i'm sellin mine..its still new....onli 7mths old...intel processor 1.8ghz...80GB seagate hard drive...512 ram...
 
you can't sell it though this website without more posts if i'm not mistaken, a moderator would know more about the exact rules
