Old Linksys Router

So I've just had my internet installed at my new place. I dug up this old linksys router (wireless-G broadband) to use and its not working right.

I plug the Ethernet from the modem to the main port on it, then another from the first of four ports to my computer. Quite simply the router doesn't seem to be bridging that connection and I get no internet.

I've unplugged and replugged it, tried all the ports and nothing works.

Is it likely that the router is just broken?

Hello,

Broken, this may be true. What is your isp and modem model? You may need to put it into bridge mode to use router. I had to do this with verizon a few years back and the westell modem.

Have you switched your modem to "bridge mode"? You will need to contact your ISP for instructions; "bridge mode" turns your modem into just a box with blinking lights, and your router takes over modem duties.
