old printer via usb

Hi, I would like to link my old OKI 4w laser printer up to my new lappy but it only has usb ports, would I be able to use a parallel to usb adapter and run software as normal?

You should be able to a guy up at work has one of those micro sized computers that dell made and it only had USB ports he hooked up the adapter and the printer worked fine.
