Old Router Out dated Need New One

Those are nice ones. I have one of the older WRT54G (essentially the same as the GL seeing as the new G's have less flash/RAM). It is a very nice unit mostly because of being so upgradable. I had another router, a Buffalo HP-G54 that I ran for a couple years with DD-WRT. It needed a reset every month or so, but aside from that it ran flawlessly. It even ran a mini web server pulling the data from my NAS, heavy WPA encryption, and a VPN.

(realize the bufallo was essentially the same router as the Linksys; basically the same processor and all inside)

will it run all my games (crysis, supreme commander, etc.) flawlessly while being able to hook up with 4 or 5 computers wirelessly from 300 feet away through walls?

I don't see how it wouldn't run your games seeing as all routers essentially network the same. But I'm no so sure about your wireless requirements. That seems to be a bit of a stretch for most any router. Just realize any wireless signal will degrade as you move away from the router. Performance is typically much better the closer you are to the router.

But do you happen to know anything about the mac router? It was said to be able to hook up to printers and make them able to receive wireless commands.

There are a few routers out there that have USB ports on them for printers and/or external drives. Again, DD-WRT could do this with a router that has USB on it. Just realize not all printers work very well using such a print server. If you want to configure a printer like this, you really need a printer that's made to connect to the network.

i know the router is good but acording to the reviews that modem stinks. i searched through newegg and they all seem to be old products. can you find any better?
