Hey guys, well im buying a cheap pc from ebay, thats probably about 5 years old, has a 3200+ Barton in it, and asus mobo with 512mb of ram.

The thing has a crappy psu, cd drive lol and floppy., low ram, and no video card...

Im purchasing it for 60$ which i think is quite a good deal, cause those 3200+ are pretty good cpu's

The computer is for my brother, originally i was gonna build him one, but when i came across this, im like heck thats a great DEAL!

So the thing is i aggreed to pay for the thing it self, but my bro has to pay for a new dvd drive, video card, sound card, psu, and cpu cooler,(i plan to do a little overclocking with this baby xD)

So his budget is 200$
Heres what i got so far.

I probably am going to put 2gigs of ram in it, cause im going to load vista on it, but the main purpose for my bro is a computer that can play cod4/mw2 sims, topspin 2, simple games, so it doesn't need a lot of processing power.

looks good with the upgrades, as for a soundcard, the Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi series are good. get the Xtreme Audio one fi you are on a budget. there is a noticable difference between stock and that one.

I'd say don't do it. For a touch over $300 you could build a new PC that'd be much nicer than the old one. Don't get me wrong, the Barton's were great processors, but that's the thing... were. A duel-core Celeron would give you better performance and probably much less heat/noise. All the components could also be new, rather than relying on old stuff (which can be a mixed bag for both new and old...)

I agree, with the 60 for the comp, and then the upgrades you will be close enough to 300 I would say go new and you (and your brother) will be alot happier.
