Older SONY Vaio

Was just given an older SONY with only 128 Meg of memory and a 20 Gig hard drive (Pentium III processor - 794 MHz).

Any chance that I can upgrade this a bit?

If so, where can I start?

Thanks.

Well, you can most definitely upgrade the RAM a bit. It should be able to go up to at least 512MB. The hard drive can probably go as high as 120 GB (Provided it's an ATA drive.

More information (Model Number) could help with this.

Thanks

I will dig out the Model #, etc. I appreciate the help. The laptop runs, but it is slow.

Is this something I can do myself or would I have to ship it to SONY or a repair shop?

Adding RAM and swapping the hard drive are two of the easiest tasks you can perform on any computer.

Once you have more information, I can help you select products and tell you how to install them.

Same question, different Vaio. I got a PCG-K25. What could I do to keep this thing running with the new sony vaio. It has 512mb of memory, and like 60gb of hard drive. Would it be worth it to replace the internal hard drive, or just buy a external one? Also she told me the fan might not be working, how can I tell? It's blowing the warm air out the back. Would it be worth the money to get a cooling pad?
