Wow, Im surprised no one has suggested this.
Do you have media center xp by any chance? I have noticed that in media center whenever I plug in a plug and play device (usb, sound card, firewire, you name it) that it wont detect it and try and install the drivers.
Go to start>control panel>performance and maintenance>system>hardware>device manger and see if there is any red or yellow question marks or exclamation marks. Look and see if there are any in human intereface deviced, or keyboards. If so, make sure you have the drivers for your keyboard installed from the cd, then go through and click reinstall driver on all the yellow or red.
You might get lucky, thats how I got one of my troublesome pci cards working.
Also, You might try one of those usb>ps2/keyboard adaptors. Make sure its usb>ps2/keyboard though, usb>mouse will fry your keyboard and your motherboard (sigh, personal experience)
