Hey when I get my new laptop what kind of programs would you guys recommend I put on it. I'm mean preferably share/freeware or other free programs or any programs that I would have to get that you highly reccomend.
I'll be using it for listening to music, watching DVD's, burning CD's/DVD's, gaming and wordproccesing.

i would reccomend first putting all the security programs like anti-virus and AdAware. also any programs that you like. i for one install winamp because i like it better than windows media player. and for word processing i have microsoft word. aLso i get and install FireFox since its better than IE.

Yup, I agree with Mr. Suave. Since you want a bunch of freebie programs, I'm sure you're gonna get a bunch of junk programs, malware, and spyware.

Well I was going ro put on Norton's, Spybot and Adaware for security.
I use Fixfox now and love it so I think I'll stick to that.
And for music I am currently using iTunes so I can update my iPod.
And games I will be playing will be things like AoE, WoW and SimCity.
Any things to help speed it up or keep it clean (I love everything to be clean and prefect eg. my music will all be saved in 'My Music/iTunes/Artist/Album' lol all 1000+ tracks)
Plus things to just generaly help my copmutering expirence.
Ps. My computer skills are fairly high for my age but that ain't saying much, in other words I don't understand things about code and temperature's and everything so be nice lol

try fpr open office from SUn system, its free n work well.....for simple wordprocessing....winamp is the best for music if u hav ipod then u will hav itune.....n i would using opera or firefox as ur default internet browser..:)...

I'm surprised no one else has suggested this but I will. Everest is a superb program for telling you the EXACT specs on your comp along with giving you a CPU temp and HDD temp readers. Even though it seems like you wouldn't need this program much it comes in VERY handy when purchasing upgrades to memory or just for general info in case something goes wrong and you need to tell someone your specs.
