On-board audio issue... Constant loud noise when in sleep mode

Hey all,
When I put my computer in sleep mode, it makes a constant loud noise until it comes back out of sleep mode. It's like a squealing static noise. It does it for a few seconds when shutting down, too.

So far my solution to this problem is to just not let it go to sleep mode. I've updated to the latest audio drives, and even the latest BIOS. It seems to have only made it a little quieter. The front audio port doesn't work either, if it means anything. Otherwise everything else sounds/seems fine.

My motherboard: MSI 890FXA-GD70
On-board audio: Realtek ALC889

do you have the front audio cable connected properly? Did connect the hd audio connector or the ac97 connector from the front panel connectors? You should connect the HD audio connector since you have nigh definition audio.

Thanks for the reply.

That's exactly what it was. My case is old and only has AC97 adaptor. I just bought a front panel for additional USB ports, and it conveniently has Azalia adaptor. Gave that a try and now it works. It still squeals a few seconds when shutting off, but doesn't do it anymore in sleep mode. I can live with this :)

Thanks for helping.
