Ok, so the last time i installed windows i had right away installed my x-fi drivers for my sound card to get my sound working. This time i did a full reformat + reinstall of windows and i don't have my sound card so i have to use onboard. I installed the drivers off the CD and it tells me to restart the comp (i do) and then my sound still does not appear. I go to control panel-sounds and i don't hhave a Playback/recording device at all. I'm completely stumped.

I'v gotten onboard audio working before and i remember i think i downloaded the drivers off the internet, and i did the same thing this tiem also, to no avail.

Help guys!

thnx.:confused::confused::confused:

Are you sure that since you were using a sound card that the onboard isnt disabled in the bios. If not look in you program folder and see if theres a realtek folder, if so go to your device manager under your sound and pick update driver and direct it toward the realtek folder.

That motherboard has high definition audio. If for some reason the HD audio bus driver doesn't get installed first then your sound will not work. Look in your device manager for any unknown devices or PCI devices. If you do then one should be the HD audio bus driver. What i have done in the past is point that driver to windows update and it usually installs and then you can reinstall the audio driver. Or you can try downloading the driver directly from Realtek.

You are welcome. For some reason there has been a lot of issues with high definition sound these days not getting installed properly.
