ok so i've had this problem many times, and it always used ot be fixed w. me uninstalling my external drive. My xp os when booting, will stay stuck on the XP bootscreen/logo thing. I can get past post w/ a succesful beep and stuff. I took out all USB devices[cept the usb wireless keyboard/mouse] and it still is stuck on the bottscreen. The mean time i've waitied is proably 2-2.5 minutes. the comp usually stays less than 15 seconds on the screen. any suggestions?

p.s. looking back at my first thgread of this problem, someone mentioned turning off USB legacy support in the BIOS. Im gonna try that right now. if it doesnt work....ill post back

I had that issue with a compaq I picked up to toy with, though I was using a PS/2 keyboard and USB mouse. I just had to briefly unplug the keyboard then plug it back in and wit worked fine. Granted it was slightly annoying to do every time, but it worked none the less.

Well in the bios you need to change the boot device. You may have it set on your external hard drive when you want your internal.
