I sign in to Microsoft and click on one drive in my start menu but nothing happens. What am I doing wrong are is there something I'm missing?

Download OneDrive to make sure it's the latest version and try again.
Double check on the bottom right (default; system tray) for the OneDrive icon:
If you have that there with the blue icon, then it's on and syncing the folders you need. If you need to see your files and folders in OneDrive, then go to File Explorer and select OneDrive from there.
