My laptop came with one gig of ram (2x512) but i can upgrade to two gig for £125,would this be worth it or should i wait till next year when ram is cheaper?

at the moment i can burn a dvd, download music, bid on ebay and keep two email accounts open and a few i.e.pages without any problems so right now its not neccessity...

would i get even better performance with this upgrade?

I doubt you would get any better performance out of 2 gigs unless you do video or imaging editing of some sort.

with my desktop, 1gb isnt enough. i play half life 2 which uses up about 400-500mb, and since i have norton, and the creative mediasource, it uses up alot. So if your gonna have alot of background programs or playing high end games, i would go with 2gb.

IF you can use 2GB yes, if not, NO.

From the sounds of it you can multitask jsut fine with your current hardware...so upgrading isn't necessary until you start having slow down problems.

Yeah like everyone said. If your going to be gaming and like to do everything else and have it open go with two gigs, if you dont have a big ram eating program like some games go with 1gb

norton takes up about 30mb of ram, so if you have that ant a bunch of other programs running, trying to play a game with 1gb can start to get laggy.

what games will eat up 2 gigs of ram

BF2 performs much better with 2GB of RAM, but that's the nly one i can think of. Any game will benefit from 2GB if your system alone is using up alot of resources and you are trying to play a game...but if your system isn't hogging all your memory then 1GB should be fine.
