One PC, Simultaneous Users

Does anyone here know of any software that can be used to make one pc function as two?
Eg. One pc with 2 keyboards, 2 mouses, two monitors and two users at the same time doing different things.

I figured that this sort of software would be great as the majority of people do not use their PCs to the max and could save a great deal of money by not having to buy another one for a second person.

I've tried to do that before and it seems that only specialized computer systems can do it without many problems. Windows really isn't made for multiple simultaneous inputs.

By the time you have a second mouse, second keyboard, second monitor, second set of speakers etc, the tower seems just a small percentage of the cost.

You would have to buy all of those anyways to get a second computer, so why not?

Thats exactly it.

you do NEED to buy these extras for a second computer, so if you need to buy all these bits, the purchase on an additional tower is only a small percentage of the overall costs.
