Online Gaming at 1Megabit per second

Is 1Mbps enough for online gaming for games like Battlefield Bad Company 2.
And if no then what about games like Portal 2 and Counter Strike 1.6/Source.

What games can I play without a lag at 1Mbps.Given that the server is close by. :D

I've played the above games on lower than 1mbit, you'll be fine, as long as you have sufficient upload bandwidth. Games will use 20KB/s down and ~15KB/s up in my experience

The upload is the same.
.99Mbps.

I tried playing CS 1.6 on lithuanian servers, and I get a terrible latency like 200+.

I don't know distance between India and Lithuania, is it close or not? Try a local server for any game, if you get good latency in that, it's safe to assume you'll get good pings to close servers.

I get 300+ to USA so any far away countries are bound to have high pings.

Even I am not sure where Lithuania is.

Will give it a try.I really wanted to play GTA IV and BFBC2 online.
Thanks :good:

Lithuania is in Eastern Europe. sheesh.

You need very little bandwidth for online gaming, ping and packet loss is more important.

This is the ping test.

Haha well that explains that. Like you said, ping and packet loss are more important. You can play fine on high pings if you don't have any packet loss, though you will still be at a disadvantage.

Your pingtest looks decent though 10ms jitter seems a bit high. Install java if you want to test packet loss.
