Online gaming help

Hello! I'm not sure if this is in the right section so move this if it isn't. I have a question. I'll try to explain it as best as I can.

I have an Xbox 360 with Xbox Live. I have the wireless adaptor for online gaming. The problem is, I get kicked out. Say I'm playing Halo 3, a friend and I will search for a game, and in the middle of that search it says I have network difficulties and kicks me out so it's only me searching for people to play with. I've talked to some other people and they all say it's my router, which is getting up there in age. I have a D-link 514, it's rather outdated. What might you suggest could be the problem? If you need me to clear something up I'll gladly clear it up for you! Thanks!

That may work, I tried using a router that was either that exact one or slightly different from Best Buy. We had Cable Internet at the time, and it was connected to our modem, and the laptops that were connected, kept getting a signal drop. I think the signal kept dropping due to the Draft N feature on the router. The laptops were all different kinds, a year old Dell, few month old Toshiba, and a new MacBook, all were affected by the N.

I don't see any N routers on that list at all. This router is on the list from MS, just make sure that the versions and firmware are also some of the approved types on the list. I'd print out that list from the link I gave you and just head in to Best Buy, Office Max, Office Depot, Circuit City, or wherever and getting what is on that list...
