Only 900hz out of 2.2Ghz on a Satellite Pro L450 laptop

Hi all,

Was servicing a Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop, model# L450 and noticed that the cpu only stays at 900hz out of 2.2Ghz no matter what.

It is running a fresh install of Windows 7 Professional, energy saving setting is at high performance, the cpu fan is clean and applied a fresh drop of silver thermal paste.

Installed the latest BIOS version, which is v1.50.

What could cause the cpu to stay at 900hz??

I assume you mean MHz, otherwise that would take hours to boot.

Is the CPU installed the original one that came with it? Are there any charging speed type of issues or is it different with the battery removed? I assume you measured at load with something like cpuz stress test while looking at the frequency tab

Of course I meant MHz. Let get on to the subject.

The cpu is the original one and yes, measured with cpuz. The cpu still runs at 900MHz with or without the battery.

Go into bios and disable cool n quiet if there is such an option for it.

Then use the correct unit. 'Lets get onto the subject' is a bit rude.

I'd also test against CnQ/SpeedStep enabled/disabled. What specific L450 is it?
