only wallpaper on desktop

hi everyone..
i have a headache with my pc right now,
when i get into the windows, the desktop only shows the wall paper and nothing else, not even start menu , icon , toolbar etc.. and the time was always set to 2003 whenever i turn on my pc.

i was told to change my motherboard battery and i did.
the time now is all right .. but the things suppose to be on desktop did not come back.
pls help. thanks a million.
 
Tried booting up into safe mode to see if it does the same thing?

(Press F8 when booting the PC up to get the option).
 
hey fabian123, welcome to CF.
right then , try booting off a system disk with clean startup files of ur own operating system. after it boots off the system disk , enter into safe mode and then perform antivirus and antispyware scans, i think that your safe mode has been disabled by some malware.

o yep, i try running explorer.exe in the window task manager but nothing came out.
how am i going to restore explorer/?
 
Hmmm got a tough one there m8, Have you tried the "Last Known Good Configuration" option when you press F8 on boot up?

That might be worth a try, if that don't work I think your gonna need to access the windows recovery console to fix your PC. But try the above first.
 
One thing that you could try is maybe your desktop is hidden. I have tried it and the result is just like your problem. Maybe someone was playing around with your comp and accidentally hid your desktop. If so try to go to the Display Property and look for hide destop option. It's just a guess as I have forgotten how to hide the desktop. :P:P:P

*EDIT*
I was searching around in Google and I found this.
- Right click on Desktop
- Click on "Arrange Icons By"
- Click on "Show Desktop Icons"

Hopefully this is just a case of hidden desktop icons. :)
Otherwise, you would have to go with ghost's suggestion.

hi, i tried the last known good config... it can't solve it too..
so sorry .. how do i go to the display property ? as i only can open any file through window task manager.
nothing comes out when i right click the desktop
 
looks like its time for a reformat sadly...
can you access your file that is in there? if you can, copy all files in there to a CD or other hard drive before doing a reformat.
