Our local exchange seems to have been upgraded recently. I know some of you probably download at far greater speeds but most of the UK is still on crappy copper so this is a good speed.

im on virgin media (cable) . were on 2mb but it goes up to 20mb in our area

Same here also on 2Mb,ive recently been having alot of problems with my internet though i think its the Black modem (motorola) thats the problem.
ive had it 4 years so it might be on its way out.

i pay £19 a month for a crappy 2mb connection,id switch if i could.

Btw nice connection Simon,do you have a link to that Suse download?

i thought suse was over a gig?

Considering how residential the area is that we live in I was surprised to find that it's not cabled and nor are there any plans to do so. We're on "upto" 16MB. We were receiving 8MB but now getting 12MB. We pay £10 for it unlimited (Sky)

That suse download is just the live CD, I want to try KDE 4.1 which the Live CD comes with. http://software.opensuse.org/ Unfortunately the few CD's I've got left all seem to be scratched to buggery.

£10 a month ,Is sky only BT compatiable though?

see the problem is our area only has Telewest cables down,no BT as its a new area so i would have to fork out around £300 to have wires put down

thatnsk for that link,im also downloading the Suse live disk, heres a comparison on my crap speed to yours :D

To get Sky BB you need to be a Sky TV subscriber and you do need to have a BT line. You not using the latest Firefox Nevakonaza?
