My friend got me to install the adobe master suite on her Mac. She had a couple of the trial programs installed already to try them out. I stupidly (still figuring out macs, heheh) just put the packages in the trash and emptied it. Now when I go to install the suite, it tells me that those programs are already installed. Anyone know how to cure this? I'm at a complete loss..

Use apptrap and see if it can clean preferences for those application so you can install the suite.
You mentioned that you put the package in the bin, then you did not put the app which means the program is still there.
Just drag and drop the whole folder of those trial already installed to the bin.
Hope am understanding what you're pointing to

From what i understand, what you deleted the ".exe" installer and not files in programs files", just an example.. in windows terms

Well, as far as I know all the applications get installed in the applications folder in mac HD, right? Because none of those programs were in there, there was just the file on the desktop, which I figured were the programs in a self contained package or something. I read somewhere that your not supposed to put adobe programs in the trash, you have to use the installer or something to uninstall them properly. Apparantly thats a special case for adobe programs. I'll try that program out, thanks for the help.

Well, Apptrap didn't exactly help. I think I did figure out my problem. luckily all the dmg files for the trials are still on the desktop, and I figured out if I run the installer for them it gives me the option to remove them. Hopefully it'll work after this.

Use the adobe uninstaller. Adobe puts lots of things in /Library. Or you can manually go in and find those and delete them. Adobe won't over install over another adobe product, this is a problem with how it is designed not a fault of Apple.

A quick google search did this, I could script it if I knew what was installed maybe and had time to actually do it.
