OpenGL 1.4 Problem

I have an older machine that I do my internet surfing on, and pretty much everything. its not bad for being a free computer and 5 years old. I decided not to buy WotLK warcraft expansion and thus stopped playing. now when I get bored, I have nothing to pass the time. I opened up a computer drawer while cleaning up the desk (I was bored) and found a slew of games I had stowed away that I had gotten as presents.

In this collection was Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Star Wars Galaxies (with 3 months of play cards) and a NASCAR game. The NASCAR game was for windows 1998 and ME, which I have 2000, and the game wouldn't work. I also don't want to get all caught up in another MMORPG right now, so that knocks SWG out of viable options, but KotOR sounds fun and I haven't gotten to play it yet.

I figured the game was from 2003 and had less system requirements than WoW, so install would be a breeze and the game would run fluidly. I was wrong. I pass everything requirement except "video card" and OpenGL. the video card is because of the OpenGL. Intel's website says they support this game on my chipset/built in graphics card, and I have updated all drivers, but I still only have OpenGL 1.3.

I have included both a screen shot of the hardware scan and link to intel's game compatibility page. btw, I attempted to contact intel about the issue, but they don't have any email or telephone support for chipset 845, just archived information. I have done everything in the archived section.

also, I don't want to upgrade computers simply for this game. my win2k computer does everything I need in a computer right now, I just want to play this game to pass the time for when I get bored. Also want to mention I don't have room for an expansion card (AGP or PCI-e), and waiting on 2gigs of RAM from newegg.

I was able to use a program called DirectGL which let me bypass the OpenGL requirement, but I don't understand why my video card still "fails". it's a 64mb (expanded to 128mb shared RAM(?)) with supposed 3D accelerator. any idea?
