Opening port problem?

I opened a port to host a game server a couple of months ago and it was working grand up untill I bought new parts for my desktop.

So when I use the port checker it says "connection refused" so I'm guessing a firewall is blocking it, so I turn off avg windows firewall(along with adding the port to windows firewall) and turning the routers firewall to low. And it still does not work.

I tried open diferrent ports to host off of but the same thing.I can't understand whats wrong as all my software has stayed the same along with the router I just changed the mobo, cpu and ram.

Please help cause I've been tearing my hair out for the last few days trying to work this out. Thanks

What hardware did you buy? Have you tried opening the ports on your router itself? What kind of router do you have?

Try disabling your antivirus all together and see if you can receive the connection, and try a different game too...

I bought a M4A89TD PRO/USB3 mobo, 2.6ghz phenom II x6 and kingston hyperX 1333mhz ram.

I use the program "simple port forwarding" which has worked before and it opens it on the router. I have the netopia 2247Nwg (with Eircom firmware)

I have all firewall/anti-virus turned off, and I use a port checker site to see if its open so it isnt the game (I've tried a few sites)

Thanks for the reply

somebody mentioned before about internet company can and does block certain ports. that could be another thought.
do you have an option to use another port?

Well I havnt changed my internet provider and it worked before I changed the parts. But yeah I have tried 25565,25566 and 25560 all to no luck
