Opening Ports

Good Evening Guys and Gals,

I am trying to open ports on my router and software firewalls. I am running Comodo Internet Security Premium 5.3.175 and using Belkin Router F5D9630-4Av1. I have opened the ports on the Router fine using the Virtual Servers option as it says on Belkins website, and I think that I have opened them successfully on Comodo but not 100% sure as the guide on portfoward.com is for an older version of Comodo and is COMPLETELY different, I had a look on the Comodo website but not 100% sure if I had the right section but tried it anyway. But still seem to get a blocked notice when using the portforward.com PortChecker software. I have also set a static IP for all my computers operating so there is no IP conflict, and the IP I used for the virtual servers is the one for my laptop. When I disable the router firewall it seems to work (according to the portforward.com PortChecker software, I have also tried placing my IP in the DeMilitarized Zone (DMZ) on my router to no avail.

I don't really know what else to try, please help.

Regards,

Dave

Disabling the router and software firewalls in turn should locate the problem, which seems to be the router. There's so little to set in any router - protocol, port numbers and destination address on the LAN. I've found the Comodo settings to be very confusing, even for the simplest tasks. Perhaps double-check by disabling each firewall in turn in case the previous test was a fluke.

The Virtual Server page, going across you have 40589, 40589, TCP, 40589, 40589? Server address something like 192.168.x.xxx (the laptop)? The external and internal port numbers can be different if you wish.

There is a "Select a Service" drop-down box. What is set there?
