Operating Systems security

Hello,

I'm connecting to the internet and using a web camera. The operating system is Windows XP. What are the various operating system features that can be used for data and system security?

I had Spyware on the previous system and it caused the system to crash completely. I'd rather this didn't happen again.

Any advice would be appreciated.

i would get zonealarm firewall (free) avast antivirus (free) and superantispyware (free). this should be a pretty good combination of software to keep ur pc safe for free.
