Opinion: File Sharing Ethical?

Technically they are losing less ;) the record company gets many times more money per sale than the artist.

I mean the artists is loosing out even more by loosing whatever there small share is to start with per album through file shairing, I know that for every pound that is lost through file sharing that the artist only gets a small cut and technically the record company is loosing more due to the size of there scut but as I mentioned I have little simpathy for those guys who bribe radio stations to play there music or pay magazines to write bogus reviews, My point is that how can record companys tell people to act legally when they can't do this themselves?

Yeah I know what you meant :) but then you also have to look at file sharing from an independant musicians perspective, sometimes their music can make it to places where their cds don't allowing them to become popular and possibly get a deal out of it. There are goods and bads of file sharing, not just for the record industry or hollywood.

Yes yes, when I'm robbing the liquor store with the gun that I don't have, for the money I don't need...i'll keep that in mind. All cuz' of burning that Eminem CD...darn.

who said anything about a gun? (you can buy those illegally and cheap.. )... How about a knife?... or a bat... or a stun gun.. or...

I was responding to you 4W4K3.. but only using your situation as an example. You are more intelligent than others.. but an addiction is an addiction... there are drug addictions and then there are addiction like this one... thieves steal out of necessity or because they get a high from it... While I am exaggerated everything to prove might point.... ahh whatever.. I think you understood what I meant..

so you buy the things, then let people get it for free from you?

No. of corse not, that would be pointlesson my part, different things i want to share of my own i put up there, My frined made a simple, yet fun and addictive game, we put itup on them as shareware, i made a few cool images, I put them up on filesharing things just to share MY things.

o all of you who say its ilegal, nomatter what way you look at its its illgal, but its not it is infact legal, it CAN BE illegal depening on what your doing with it, but like in my case, i havn't done a single illigal thing.

legal or not it is often used for illegal things so the easiest way to prevent illegal activities is to cut the head off the snake so to speak.

I dont like it. Besides, people who buy their cds can laugh at you about how colorful their collection is when all you have is a bunch of burned discs. Plus if you want free movies and your a kid, theres rentals and movie theaters and parents for reasons. Besides, its a rare chance but who would want companies and such sueing you?

laugh all you want, i've never really taken pride in collecting CD's
rentals are good for one time use
movie theaters exist to drain your wallet, and for one time use
parents are there to say "no" 99% of the time (regarding money)

just poking fun at your statement :)

i use limewire, but i only download the ocassional song, i dont go downloading hundreds of songs a day just because i can. Truth is, i tried to buy them legit from wal-mart music or msn music, but everytime i had to reformat my comp, i couldnt listen to them again, so i decided that if i really want a song, i just get it from limewire (not that im supporting ppl just go out and downloads hundreds of illegal songs), but i had over 30 songs that i paid $1 each for, and i think that i deserve to be able to listen to the music i paid for.
