Interested in opinions on the following package. It's an upgraded Gateway GT5032. Upgraded items marked with *.

BTX case w/extra case fan
300w Power Supply
eVGA GeForce 6800XT graphics card, 256MB RAM *
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
2GB PC3200 RAM *
300GB Seagate SATA Hard Drive, 16MB Cache *
DVD-ROM
DVD-burner
TV tuner
Windows MCE
Viewsonic VA1912wb monitor (widescreen, 19")

I paid $870 for the computer and $300 for the upgraded items, plus $200 for the monitor. All new.

I think it should do anything I need it to. Am somewhat suspicious of low(?) base price and wonder about long-term reliability. I should mention that Gateway has discontinued the GT5032. Not available anywhere. Did I make a good or bad choice? The closest thing I could find at any of the competitors was hundreds more, same for building the equivalent from scratch.

Who says he needs it for gaming? Still a decent gaming system with the GPU if he is gaming. Looks like a great system for the price :)

A 300W PSU seems a little slim, but it depends on the quality of the unit (particularly the amperage on the +12V rail), of course.

get a new graphic card(go for a nice 512) will be really worth the money if you do gaming or get a good high end 256 for normal use + higher psu about 500 watts and you should be good
