Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum and desperately need to build a new computer. I haven't built one in about 3 years and I am not exactly up to date on the newest stuff. I am looking for a computer that will handle most games. Is upgradeable, will run mmo's like eq2, WOW, vanguard etc, very fast and can be upgradeable to directx10 games in the future but can run them now even if not at best settings.
Please let me know what you think of the following build. Also should I go with a quad core processor right off the bat or wait a few months or a year and upgrade then.
Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Thermaltake CL-P0310 120mm CPU Cooling Fan
1 Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Conroe 2.66GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80557E6750
1 CORSAIR Dominator 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1142 (PC2 9136) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X2048-9136C5D
1 EVGA 122-CK-NF68-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
2 Western Digital Raptor X WD1500AHFD 150GB 10,000 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive - OEM (FOR A RAID 0)
1 OCZ GameXStream OCZ1010GXSSLI ATX12V / EPS12V 1010W Power
1 PNY XLR8 VCG8800XXPB GeForce 8800GTX 768MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Video Card - Retail
Grand Total: $2,233.93 (PRICES FROM NEWEGG) I'll do more shopping before i actually buy.
Thanks for any insight and suggestions. I figure this would give me the option of upgrading to quad core if and when i want as well as as SLI video cards if needed.
