Opinions on ABIT IP35 Pro LGA 775 Intel P35 motherboard

I used to like Abit boards pretty well, good quality and good overclockers. There boards were good quality but it seems like there quality control before they left the door kinda went down hill a few years ago and there bios got alittle finikey or buggie (alot of bios updates for issues). But I think they got bought out alittle over a year ago so they might have made a turn around. If so they were really good boards at one time.
 
I have also been reading that ASUS motherboards aren't the quality they used to be either. Is this true?

What about the quality of MSI motherboards? Many members on these forums rave about Gigabyte. I also believe Gigabyte motherboards are likely top of line right now.
 
Asus have been alittle buggie with Ram on alot of boards but there good quality boards. MSI I like there Video cards but not there motherboards, went through alot of DOAs or USB or Lan would be dead, think it was more of a quality control thing like Abit. I have had the best luck out of Gigabyte, DFI and Asus overall I guess. Used to use alot of Epox boards but the company went under (upper management bankrupted it). Crap happens.
 
Personally, I llike (really like) Abit Boards. I had an IP-95 that I adored up until about 7 months ago (outdated, yes, but it suited my needs). It was replaced with an IL9 Pro. Granted, we got off to a rocky start, but I've come to love it, as well. Simply put, Abit = results expected from a well-known, Brand-name company.

However, many people have had problems with their IP35 Board since the day it came out. Not certain if it holds true still, but a few months back, if you went on the Abit Forums and looked in their 'Troubleshooting' Folder, the first three pages were Ip35-related issues. People bought the Boards by the droves, but had a lot of issues with them. They *might* have fixed many of them via BIOS updates, but know you might be in for some fun if you purchase one...
 
I have decided to avoid the latest A-bit motherboards and look at a Gigabyte or DFI brands learning what you guys have said.

Haven't set my eyes on any specific DFI model yet, but I want either the GA-MA770-DS3 or GA-P35-DS3L model if I choose Gigabyte. Haven't decided to go with an AMD Phenom or Intel Core 2 Duo yet. Depends what new Phenom processor Advanced Micro Devices releases this year.
 
FWIW, if I ever moved away from Abit, it would be for Gigabyte. Their P31/P35 series are pretty tight across the board. I'm certain lots of folks here will attest to it.
 
If you go AM2+ the best board out for the money is this one in my opinion.

But if you go for the Phenom wait till the B3 stepping models come out. But I agree if you dont want to spend around 100 bucks the GA-MA770 DS3 is a good board, but you get a good bang for your buck with the DFI.
But one other thing, pretty soon the AMD AM2+ chipset boards are going with a new SB700 southbridge and Nvidia is releasing there AM2+ chipset too. So in the next month or 2 there could be a bunch of new boards out.
