Opinions on my Build

The nine upper links don't work, (for me anyway). Comes up 404-Error, but the bottom link to the cooler works. Something different between the two?

Your DVD is IDE not sata
Your Mobo is intel -> intel is terrible for mobos, and I can't really see getting DDR3 in that build, your going medium quality on everything (except mobo which is crap) and then going top of the line on ram??? Anyway, IDE DVD must change, besides that it looks like it is all compatible.

That cooler looks decent, only needed if you are Overclocking, if you are OCing a cooler is a must.

when linking pages use the link button right above the text box (its the globe with a chain link in front) Just type in your item like intel crap mobo, highlight it, click on the globe, paste URL, have fun!

Hmm..I thought the ram on that level was a good price. Should I stick with the DDR2? How much should I be spending on a MOBO? Are they THAT important? And yeah I'm not going to overclock so I guess I won't need that separate CPU cooler.

Here is some good mobos. Non sli/crossfire
Gigabyte UD3L - $98.99 solid mobo
Gigabyte UD3R - $114.99 Great overclocker
Asus P5Q Pro - $129.99 solid mobo, sli/crossfire support

Here is some good Ram
2x2gb G.Skill - $54.99 Great Ram, does not overclock.
2x2gb Patriot Extreme - $69.99 Great Ram
2x2gb Mushkin - $74.99 Great ram, over priced if you are not going to overclocking ram.

Also that hard drive is built for Raid, you will have to mess with it to get it to run as a single (read reviews). Here are some great HDD.
WD 500gb - $74.99
Seagate Barracuda 250gb - $54.99

you don't have an Operating System with that build either =\

P5Q pro doesnt support sli, only crossfire. just don't want to get that confuzzled.. :P

o gawd thank you for pointing that out. I forget to specify which since I don't do crossfire/sli myself.

And Mangofresh, that case is fine. Honestly, I have built systems with very cheap cases and have very few problems. Sometimes a fan comes DOA, sometimes I have to remove a useless DVD/CD door. Some times a plastic piece is broken. The thing to look for is to make sure it has some fans or at least spots you can put fans. Todays video cards and cpus can require decent cooling so fans are a must. My video card runs at 80c easy and without good ventilation my case would be a toaster.

The difference between sata and IDE is huge actually. Sata allows much higher band width for info transfer while IDE uses pata cables which everyone knows as the wide, flat cables of old. For an example, backing up a DVD (decryption to finished burned DVD) took me about an hour and a half on IDE. On Sata it takes under 20 minutes. And a sata dvd burner costs about $25-$30 on newegg. Here is a nice combo DVD and CD burner. I actually own this one ;)

Yea between drives, go with the 500. Lately though, I personally haven't had good luck with seagate drives. They've failed within a week or so in a raid configuration, might just be me.

You'll probably be fine, i just got "lucky" with a bad batch.

Go for the second one though, definitely. Seagate carries a 5 year warranty, which is pretty damn good for a harddrive.
