Hello everyone. I'm new to these forums and I joined to learn more about computers, how they work, and how to push their performance. I am currently having a computer built and these are the specs:
Intel Core2 Quad 6600 w/ 2x4MB Cache
eVGA nForce 680i SLI w/ Dual DDR2 1200
4GB of Crucial Ballistix PC2-8500 DDR2 RAM
Antec 900 case
Corsair 620W w/ 3x +12V power supply
2x Seagate Barracuda 320GB 7200RPM HDD
eVGA e-GeForce 8800 GTX Superclocked

Please respond with your opinions on this system.

welcome aboard the mothership.
with a spec like yours ain't no need to push performance.
mine needs a push though (cough..cough...celeron)

for now it's ok but when the time is right we will help you

Looks pretty good, if that evga 8800gtx the one that cost like 560$? if so just get a msi 8800ultra for around 30$ more

Not sure if you're speaking in american or canadian currency, but here the 8800 GTX was $659 and the 8800 Ultra was $730. The sales rep said I probably wouldn't be able to notice a performance difference and it would save me some money.

Well all the 8800 Ultra is really is an overclocked 8800GTX and at that sort of speed it's likely to make little difference anyway, nice rig.

They'll Still charge him a couple hundred more n' he would've payed if he'd bought the items himself.

But I'm not complaining. Some people aren't comfortable building their own PC.

Yeah he's gonna pay extra, but if he don't have a clue how to build a system and has the money why not? Plus he's come here to learn, so maybe he'll end up building a new PC or upgrading parts himself.

As for the computer, that's an awesome system. RAM & Processor wont need changing for a looong time. Only thing that'll want upgrading to keep up is the graphics card, probably when really testing DX10 games come out and Geforce is in the mid 9000 series :) Will be quite some time yet though so don't worry about it. Ownage rig, you'll be having fun with that :D

Go buy Bioshock & STALKER and shit ready for it !

They only charged me $70 CDN to build, load Vista and make sure it works.

PS- I picked up Bioshock today and wow...just wow. I'm going to load on STALKER later.
